nothing is filtered, everything is given back.
what this is
adsb.lol collects radio messages from aircraft, sent by volunteer receivers around the world, and publishes them back as a live map, a daily archive and an API. there is no paywall and no gatekeeping: if we can hear it, it is yours.
right now that is about 11,586 aircraft tracked at the same time, 11,955 contributing connections, and 5,454 GB of archive, with more added every day.
why
when the category leader was acquired, the same data moved behind a paywall. adsb.lol keeps it open instead, for hobbyists, students, researchers and small companies alike.
how it is built
stations run readsb and stream raw Mode-S and ADS-B messages. mlat-server computes the positions of aircraft that do not broadcast them, by multilateration across receivers.
the rest runs on self-managed Kubernetes, on cheap VMs. artisanally crafted: the cluster, the network policy, the edge gateway, storage, and the services that tie it together. no managed platform, no magic. it is where the evenings go, and the part i enjoy most.

api: ODbL 1.0. daily archive: one file per aircraft, in the historical archive. sharing CC0 data with us makes you a partner.
privacy
no personal data is kept past 30 days of logs. hosted by Netcup, Germany. full privacy & license.
